President Message
Dear Members and Colleagues,
Warm Greetings from the National President for the Golden Jubilee Year Celebrations!
Dear Members and Colleagues,
Beginning of the Financial Year – A Phase of Responsibility and Renewal The month of April marks the commencement of a new financial year — a period that brings with it renewed professional responsibilities and opportunities. For tax practitioners across the country, this is a crucial phase involving implementation of the changes introduced through the Finance Act, 2026, realignment of advisory strategies, and guiding clients through evolving compliance and legal requirements.
This year assumes greater significance as the pace of regulatory changes continues to accelerate, particularly in areas such as digital compliance, faceless proceedings, cross-border taxation, and increased data-driven scrutiny. The role of the tax professional is steadily transitioning from that of a compliance facilitator to a strategic advisor, requiring a deeper understanding of both law and technology.
Evolving Professional Landscape – Adapting to Change I am of the humble view that as professionals we will have to deal with “change”. Change is no longer transformative but a constant. India is emerging as a global leader by the aspirations of
its own people and the Government reinforces this vision in Nation building. The Government is focusing on a future ready economy. In this journey, tax professionals play a crucial role asa catalyst. I believe that the integrity and expertise of a professionals will support the vision to become a reality.
The post-Budget phase has clearly indicated that tax administration is becoming increasingly system-driven and analytics-oriented. Greater integration of GST and Income-tax data, enhanced reporting requirements, and technology-enabled verification mechanisms are reshaping the compliance ecosystem.
In this environment, professionals must adopt a proactive approach by:
• Strengthening documentation and advisory processes
• Enhancing preparedness for scrutiny and litigation
• Leveraging technology for efficient practice management
• Keeping abreast of judicial developments and legislative amendments
The ability to anticipate issues and provide forward-looking solutions will define professional excellence in the coming years.
Academic Activities in March – A Reflection of Nationwide Engagement The month of March 2026 witnessed a series of significant academic and professional programmes across the Federation, reflecting the continued vibrancy of our institutional framework. Notably, programmes such as the Residential Refresher Course (RRC) at Chitrakoot Dham from 20th to 22nd March 2026, two-day Zonal tax conference at Nashik and the “Swarna Sagar 2026” conference held on 22nd March 2026 at Paradeep and half day conference at Varanasi brought together members for in-depth deliberations, knowledge sharing, and professional interaction.
In addition, the Federation, in collaboration with affiliated associations, conducted a series of technical webinars and study sessions during March, covering emerging topics such as the evolving tax ecosystem, taxation of firms, and practical aspects of compliance and advisory.
There are a series of programs organised by various Zones during the month of April, 2026. The details of which are published in AIFTP Times. Members are requested to attend in large numbers and make each of those programs successful.
These initiatives once again demonstrate the commitment of AIFTP at all levels to foster continuous learning, encourage professional dialogue, and equip members to effectively navigate the dynamic tax environment.
Continuing the Momentum of Technology and AI in Practice Building upon the insights emerging from recent national deliberations on Artificial Intelligence and digital transformation, it is evident that technology is no longer an adjunct but an integral component of tax practice.
I am given to understand by finance, tax and accounting experts that AI would be the major disruptor. AI will probably disrupt the way we work and the way we think. Most likely, it will disrupt jobs. As such, I strongly believe that we need to skill, re-skill and upskill to stay wherever we are. Towards, mitigating these potential disruptions. I once again urge all Zones and Regions to actively organise programmes focusing on technology in taxation, AI-driven compliance systems, and digital practice management. Such initiatives will not only enhance professional competence but also ensure that our members remain aligned with global best practices. The integration of human expertise with technological capability will be the hallmark of the future-ready tax professional.
All Zones Conference – Jaipur, May 2026
I am pleased to inform members that the All-Zones Conference of the Federation will be held on 16th and 17th May 2026 at Jaipur. This important gathering will provide a unique platform for interaction among representatives from all Zones, fostering exchange of ideas, sharing of best practices, and strengthening organisational cohesion.
The Conference assumes special importance in this Golden Jubilee Year, as it will serve as a forum to collectively deliberate on the future direction of the Federation, capacity building initiatives, and strategies to address emerging professional challenges.
I urge all Zonal leadership teams to actively participate and contribute meaningfully to the deliberations, ensuring that the outcomes of the Conference translate into actionable initiatives across the country.
Golden Jubilee – From Vision to Execution
As we move forward in this landmark year, the emphasis must now shift towards implementation of ideas and initiatives that will leave a lasting institutional impact. The Golden Jubilee is an opportunity to strengthen our systems, enhance member engagement, and reinforce the core values of the Federation.
Our collective endeavour should be to ensure that AIFTP continues to be a thought leader responsive to change, rooted in ethics, and committed to professional excellence.
The Journal – Enriching Professional Discourse
The AIFTP Journal continues to play a vital role in disseminating knowledge and fostering informed discussion. I encourage members to contribute articles, particularly on emerging areas such as digital taxation, AI in compliance, and evolving jurisprudence, thereby enriching the intellectual capital of the Federation.
A Call for Professional Commitment
As we embark on a new financial year, I urge all members to renew their commitment to:
• Continuous learning and upskilling
• Ethical and responsible practice
• Active participation in Federation activities
• Mentorship and knowledge sharing
In a rapidly changing environment, our strength lies in unity, adaptability, and collective wisdom.
Conclusion
I somehow believe that our Nation provides unprecedented opportunities to the tax professionals. Each of us have to rise to the occasion and make this count in the journey of growth. Your trust, participation in programs, effective learning and application of what we have learnt will remain our strength forever.
Let us approach the year ahead with clarity of purpose, professional integrity, and a commitment to excellence. Together, let us ensure that the Golden Jubilee Year is remembered not only for celebration, but for meaningful progress and enduring contribution to the profession.
CA S Venkataramani
National President
