President Message
Dear Members and Colleagues,
Warm Greetings from the National President for the Golden Jubilee Year Celebrations!
Dear Members and Colleagues,
Reflecting on Progress, Preparing for the Future:
As we enter the month of June, 2026 we stand at an important juncture in the professional calendar. The first quarter of the financial year is underway, and tax professionals across the country are actively engaged in helping businesses and individuals adapt to changing regulatory requirements while ensuring compliance and sustainable growth.
The profession today operates in an environment characterised by rapid technological advancement, evolving legal frameworks, and increasing expectations from taxpayers and regulators alike. Such times demand not only technical competence but also adaptability, foresight, and an unwavering commitment to professional excellence.
GST Compliance – Strengthening the Digital Ecosystem:
On the Indirect Tax front, GST continues to witness important procedural refinements aimed at improving transparency, accountability, and the integrity of the compliance framework.
One of the significant developments is the introduction of mandatory reporting of the "Ship-To GSTIN" in Bill-To/Ship-To transactions under the e-Way Bill system with effect from 15th June 2026. The GSTN has also introduced an e-Way Bill Closure Facility, providing taxpayers and transporters with an additional compliance mechanism for improved monitoring and documentation of goods movement.
These initiatives are yet another step towards strengthening audit trails, improving data reliability, and ensuring greater transparency within the GST ecosystem. The continued emphasis on invoice matching, digital reconciliation, and technology-driven compliance management reinforces the direction in which tax administration is evolving.
I urge the tax professionals to file appeals, if any, before the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal well within the due dates and avoid last minute rush.
In this environment, businesses increasingly look towards tax professionals not merely for compliance support but also for strategic guidance in identifying risks, strengthening internal controls, and managing challenges arising from automated validations, data analytics, and system-based scrutiny.
As professionals, we must remain updated with these developments and continue to assist taxpayers in navigating the rapidly evolving digital compliance landscape with confidence and clarity.
Successful Conclusion of the All-Zones National Tax Conference – Jaipur 2026
The Two-Day All-Zones National Tax Conference held on 16th and 17th May 2026 at Jaipur, organised by the Central Zone, was a grand success and marked yet another memorable milestone in the Golden Jubilee Year of the Federation. This is the first time in my memory, that an All-Zones National Tax Conference has been held under the aegis of the AIFTP. I sincerely thank the Conference Chairman, Past National President, Sri Pankaj Ghiya for being the beacon of the Conference. I convey my gratitude to all the National Office Bearers, National Vice-Presidents, National Joint Secretaries, Zone Chairpersons, all the Committee Members of the respective Zones and importantly, the Central Zone Team and the delegates from across the country. I have not taken any names for the fear of missing out on any individual who would have contributed to the Conference.
The Conference was held alongside the 4th National Executive Committee Meeting and the Extraordinary General Meeting (EOGM), providing an excellent platform for professional deliberations, organisational discussions, and exchange of ideas among members from across the country.
A special highlight of the inaugural session was the felicitation of Hon'ble Mr. Justice J. K. Ranka (Retd.), former Judge of the Rajasthan High Court, who graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. The release of the Conference e-Souvenir further enriched the occasion and reflected the academic and professional contributions of the Federation.
I place on record my sincere appreciation to the Central Zone leadership, the organising team, speakers, delegates, and all members who participated in large numbers and contributed to the resounding success of the Conference. The enthusiasm and commitment displayed by members reaffirm the strength and unity of our Federation as we celebrate Fifty Years of professional excellence.
National Economic Resilience – A Shared Responsibility
Recent global developments and geopolitical uncertainties have once again reminded us that economic stability cannot be taken for granted. Fluctuations in energy prices, the exchange rate fluctuations, supply chain disruptions, and changing international trade dynamics continue to influence economies across the world.
In this context, the appeal made by our Hon'ble Prime Minister to use resources responsibly assumes great significance. The call for prudent use of fuel, conservation of resources importantly foreign exchange, promotion of domestic consumption, and adoption of responsible economic behaviour reflect a larger vision of strengthening India's economic resilience during uncertain times.
The Prime Minister has encouraged citizens to consciously reduce avoidable fuel consumption, promote carpooling and public transportation, embrace work-from-home models wherever feasible, support domestic tourism, and make responsible financial decisions. Such measures, though simple at an individual level, collectively contribute towards preserving valuable national resources and strengthening the country's economic foundation.
Every citizen contributes to economic resilience through responsible choices. Every business contributes through productive investment and employment generation. Every professional contributes through guidance, compliance, transparency, and ethical conduct. As tax professionals, we play a unique role in strengthening the economic ecosystem by:
Promoting voluntary compliance;
Facilitating ease of doing business;
Supporting entrepreneurship and innovation;
Encouraging transparent financial practices;
Guiding businesses through periods of uncertainty and change; and
Strengthening trust in institutions and governance systems.
Nation-building is not achieved solely through policy; it is achieved through collective participation. Our profession remains an important stakeholder in this national journey.
Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Professional Practice
The conversation around Artificial Intelligence has moved beyond possibility to reality. AI-powered tools are increasingly influencing compliance management, data analytics, legal research, documentation, and client services. The question before us is not whether technology will change our profession, but how effectively we will adapt to it.
Technology should not be viewed as a substitute for professional judgement. Rather, it should be regarded as a powerful tool that enhances efficiency, accuracy, and value creation. The future belongs to professionals who combine deep domain expertise with technological competence.
I encourage all members, particularly younger professionals, to invest time in understanding emerging technologies and their practical application in professional practice.
The Golden Jubilee Year – Building a Lasting Legacy
As we continue to celebrate the Golden Jubilee Year of the Federation, our focus must remain on creating long-term value for members and the profession. The true measure of this milestone year will not be the number of events organised, but the lasting institutional impact we create through:
Knowledge dissemination;
Professional development;
Member empowerment;
Leadership cultivation; and
Strengthening the Federation's organisational framework.
Let this Golden Jubilee Year become a foundation upon which future generations can build even greater achievements.
Residential Refresher Courses – Continuing the Tradition of Learning
One of the unique strengths of AIFTP has always been its commitment to continuous professional education through innovative and engaging learning platforms.
I am delighted to welcome members to the forthcoming Residential Refresher Courses (RRCs):
- Residential Refresher Course at Diu organised by Western Zone:
- Golden Jubilee Residential Refresher Course
12th to 14th June 2026 – Diu
3rd to 5th July 2026 – Goa
Organised by the Golden Jubilee Year Celebration Committee
These programmes provide an excellent opportunity for professional learning, exchange of ideas, networking, and fellowship among members in a relaxed and enriching environment. Over the years, the Residential Refresher Courses have emerged as one of the most prestigious and eagerly awaited academic initiatives of the Federation.
The unique blend of intensive technical sessions, interaction with eminent faculty, and opportunities for fellowship amongst members has contributed significantly to the professional growth of generations of tax practitioners.
I encourage members and their families to participate in large numbers and make these programmes memorable and successful.
Preparing for the Upcoming Compliance Season
The coming months will witness increased professional activity with various statutory compliances, return filing obligations etc. This period offers professionals an opportunity to demonstrate not only technical expertise but also leadership and client service excellence.
I urge members to:
Remain updated on legislative and judicial developments;
Strengthen internal systems and documentation practices;
Leverage technology for efficiency and risk management;
Guide clients proactively rather than reactively;
Continue investing in professional education and training; and
Maintain the highest standards of ethics and professional conduct.
Professional preparedness remains the key to delivering quality services in an increasingly complex environment.
A Call for Collective Participation
The Federation derives its strength from the active participation of its members. I encourage every member to take part in the academic, professional, and organisational activities conducted by the Federation and its affiliated associations.
Together, we can continue to build an institution that remains relevant, progressive, inclusive, and respected.
Conclusion
As we move forward, let us remain guided by the principles that have shaped the Federation over the last fifty years - ethical conduct, continuous learning, professional excellence and service to society.
The opportunities before our profession are immense. By embracing change, nurturing knowledge, and upholding our values, we can contribute meaningfully to the growth of our profession and the progress of our Nation.
As we celebrate the Golden Jubilee Year, let us rededicate ourselves to the ideals upon which this great Federation was founded and strive to leave behind a stronger institution for future generations.
Your trust, active participation, and commitment continue to inspire the Federation's journey forward.
Let us continue this Golden Jubilee journey with confidence, commitment, and a shared vision for the future.
With warm regards and best wishes,
CA S. Venkataramani
National President
