Respected Fellow Members of our Federation,

It is matter of great honour and privilege for the Federation that we have celebrated the Foundation Day in different parts of the country. Main function was organized by All India Federation of Tax Practitioners (North Zone) on 13th November, 2009 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi in which the Hon’ble Chief Minister Smt. Sheila Dixit, was the Chief Guest.

It was really a great privilege for me, while delivering the Presidential address in the inaugural session, that I was able to convey the message of the Federation in the presence of Hon’ble Justice A.K. Sikri, Judge, High Court of Delhi and other high dignitaries of the country.

Since white paper of GST has just been published and circulated, the deliberation on GST in the presence of Dr. M. Govinda Rao, Member, Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister & Director, National Institute of Public Finance & Policy and Prof. Mahesh Purohit, Senior Economist, achieved great importance. Those dignitaries acknowledged the contribution of the Federation on the subject.

I have appealed in my earlier message published in the journal of October, 2009 requesting each of our members to give their suggestion with regard to Direct Tax Code and also for GST. The suggestions which have been received have been duly forwarded alongwith the suggestions made by us.

The term of two years of the present office bearers is coming to an end in December, 2009. I had the great pleasure and privilege of working with every past President, Chairman and Vice Chairman of different zones who have contributed a lot for achieving the goal of the Federation.

I must congratulate the Chairman and Vice Chairman of each zone in particular and every member of the Federation in general for contributing towards success of the programmes organized in the different parts of the country.

I shall endeavour for the further progress of the Federation in the coming years.
