The professional opportunities of the tax professionals are expanding and it is achieving global proportions. In view of this it is absolutely essential that the tax professionals must keep and maintain their high social and ethical obligations, which is one of the motive of All India Federation of Tax Practitioners.

I am extremely happy that the tax professionals to a large extent maintain very high standards all over the country.

The service of the tax professionals are largely being utilized by industrial houses and other corporate sectors. It is our duty to promote fairness, transparency and accountability of the corporate world, wherever the service of the trained tax professionals are utilized.

Our Federation has been providing an unique platform for interaction between the senior members of the profession and the younger generation to ensure the best utilization of the expanding opportunities.

I have always been of the view that the younger generation has to be promoted by the senior members of the Federation who shall be taking lead in the coming years.

Our federation has been very seriously pursuing its educational programme under Palkhivala Foundation and Research Committee of AIFTP and ITAT Bar Association at Mumbai. The Moot Court organized by AIFTP jointly with Government Law College, Mumbai and Income Tax Appellate Tribunal Bar Association, Mumbai has been an example which has been acknowledged by all of us.

In pursuance of the said decision of the National Executive, AIFTP (NZ) has decided to organize a National Tax Moot Court Competition jointly with Faculty of Law, University of Allahabad on 21st, 22nd and 23rd August, 2009 at Allahabad in the memory of Late Shri Raja Ram Agrawal, Senior Advocate (Former Advocate General of U.P.) who was a very leading tax advocate of Northern India and was a product of Allahabad University.

For the success of such a National event, the active cooperation of the members of the National Executive shall be required, as informed by Shri S.R. Wadhwa and Shri H.C. Bhatia, Vice President and Chairman of the AIFTP (NZ).

I request the Chairman of the other Zones to consider and decide for holding National Tax Moot Court Competitions in their respective zones with a view to implement the decision of the National Executive of AIFTP, as decided at Kolkata.

I suggest every member of the Federation to send their suggestions immediately to Shri S.R. Wadhwa, Advocate, Vice President (NZ) for making a representation for amendment, if any, of Income Tax Act and the copy should also be sent to Shri N.M. Ranka, Senior Advocate, Jaipur and also to Shri V. Ramachandran, Senior Advocate, Chennai; Dr. K Shivaram, Mumbai, Past Presidents apart from other members who may also give their suggestions immediately for preparing the final draft of representation.

The GST is also likely to come to a final shape within few months, which is likely to be implemented w.e.f. 1-4-2010. Hence suggestions for the same may also be sent to Shri P.C. Joshi, our Past President, Mumbai; Shri K. L. Goel, Vice Chairman, Punjab and Haryana (North Zone); Shri H.C. Bhatia, Chairman (NZ) apart from the other Zonal Chairpersons, so that we may get the proper suggestions at the earliest, which can be condensed and finalized for giving the suggestions on behalf of the Federation.

The efforts and activities of the Federation must go beyond its normal sphere and the presence of the Federation should be felt in every corner of the country by our good activities for the general benefit of the public at large and for the members of the tax fraternity in particular.

With personal regards to every member of our own Federation.
