President’s Message

Respected Fellow Members of our Federation,

I convey my greetings for HOLI to every elders, my colleagues and the future of the tax bar, namely, the young Advocates and young Chartered Accountants. The strength of our federation lies in the unity of the national tax bar.

The guidance and the path shown by our past Presidents and the endeavour and participation of our younger generation is the reason behind the success of objects and the programmes of AIFTP.

I convey my deep sense of gratitude to the Vice Chairman, of the Northern Zone (State of U.P.) Shri Anil Kumar Singh, Advocate and his entire team at Varanasi for organizing the unique and extremely grand, well planned National Tax Conference-2009 on 7th and 8th March, 2009 at Varanasi.

The presence of more than 1000 delegates in the conference and technical sessions being attended by more than 400 to 500 delegates is a great message for our future conferences and seminars.

I convey my sincere and heartfelt congratulations on behalf of the Federation through this message to the entire Northern Zone in general, and State of U.P., especially my fellow Advocates and Chartered Accountants of Varanasi, in particular.

What is required now is the active participation of each and every members of the National Executive Committee of AIFTP which was seen in the evening of 6th March, 2009 at Hotel Radison, Varanasi when more than 90% of the executive members have attended the national executive meeting.

In this National Tax Conference, the federation has decided, as a part of its education programme, to introduce the young Advocates and Chartered Accountants of less than five years standing to introduce the subject in the technical session.

We have been successful in our endeavour, as we have introduced Mrs. Surabhi Ranka, young Chartered Accountant from Jaipur and Mr. Rahul Agarwal and Shri Sumit Batra young advocates of Allahabad and New Delhi who have put in about two years of practice at the Bar to introduce the subject in third, fourth and fifth technical sessions on 8th March, 2009. We shall continue the experiment with a view to promote the young tax professionals who shall be the pillars of the future tax bar.

As a part of the education programme, Northern Zone of the federation have invited papers of the law students of the various National Law Colleges and Universities on the subjects of the theme of the conference and of the technical sessions under Income tax, Service tax and VAT. These papers were separately published and distributed to all delegates and students were duly awarded at Varanasi for contributing the papers at Varanasi by Late Shri Raja Ram Agrawal Memorial trophies given by me; on the pattern of the trophies given by me in Nani Palkhiwala Memorial National Tax Moot Court Competition – 2008 at Mumbai.

I appeal for active involvement and participation of each and every senior life member of the federation for which the respective office bearer of the different zone have to make continuous efforts by making personal contacts with individual life members of their respective places and the other judicial institutions for extending the horizon of All India Federation of Tax Practitioners.

The proposal of AIFTP (Northern Zone) to organize in April, 2009 one day seminar at Chandigarh jointly with judicial academy of Punjab and Haryana shall be another milestone in the history of the Federation, for which we shall make joint efforts with the office bearers of Northern Zone.

I shall try to be in constant touch with you for the cause of the Federation.

With personal regards to every member of our own Federation.

Jai Hind.
